Even knowing why it happens, I hate "trim levels."

Because with some cars, I can’t drive comfortably unless it doesn’t have a sun roof. And with many of those cars, the sunroof is mandatory if you want literally any other option.

I don’t know about anyone else, but I use the sunroof in cars about as often as I use the NFC on my phone. If you’re asking “What’s NFC?” then you get my point.

NFC is pretty fucking awesome.

Well, I hate the sunroof. Not because it's more useless than a five legged table, but because of what it does. Speaking as a 6'3 person, the sunroof impacts a lot in terms of headroom. Sometimes its no big deal, other times, it causes my head to hit the roofliner and make my neck stiff. It's not fun at all, and I wish, that modern carmakers realized that with the low rooflines and the gunslit windows, the last thing people like me need is something that makes driving it less comfortable.

That’s exactly my problem. I think the current gen Focus and the BRZ are some of the few cars I’ve driven where I can sit comfortably upright without scraping on the headliner.

it’s a neat idea that I have never, ever used. For anything.

Only one I’ve experienced so far is the Dodge Challenger. Kudos FCA, for realizing that Americans exist that are taller than 5'10.

personally I adore sunroofs. reason I bought my car was in part the sunroof.

looking back, that 2014 V6 stang with the glass roof would have been bomb for me

I like the large glass roofs, but the little tiny things that are on most cars (and take up all the headroom) don’t let in enough light to really make a difference. Most of the time I kept the shield closed because it cut down on road noise.

I feel like it would just require, like, twice the actions as sending something over facebook.

I disabled NFC on my phone because every time it was near either of my credit cards or bank card, the tap to pay chips in them (that use NFC to work) would always make my phone start making a weird notification dingle.

In a related matter, I loved having the sunroof in my Jimmy when I got it and opened it all the time. Now that it’s a BC winter, I’m aware that unless I make sure it’s really sealed shut it will let water into my headliner, and the sun shade slides shut every time I brake more than moderately.

I love sunroofs, t tops, targa roofs. my problem with trim levels is I become obsessed with buying the most expensive one. Its almost like I can’t buy a base model.

It isn’t required as far as I have seen, but cars without them above a certain trim level don’t sell.

Of course, I'm short, so they do nothing but let light in when I want it. Aside from the potential for leaks, I consider them a must have up here because they let more of the little light we get in the winter in. Plus I love the extra rain drop noise and looking up to see water droplets streaming across them.

The late 90's 4Runner limited has a sunroof. I don’t fit in those. The SR5 trim (the one I have) does not have a sunroof. I fit fine in that.

I’m the opposite. I love sunroofs. But I agree 100% with your hatred of trim levels. On my V-Sport it was either do without or pay 10 grand for a sunroof, a HUD, and a bunch of shit I either don’t care about or would prefer not to have. It’s bullshit. I almost didn’t buy it just because if that.
